On January 1, 2021, shortly after 2:00 a.m., police were dispatched to eastbound IH-10 and West Ave. Officers arrived and found a white Dodge Charger with multiple gunshots to the driver's side door and window. The victim, Staff Sergeant Jessica Mitchell, was transported to University Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The possible suspect vehicle, a red SUV, was seen driving behind Mitchell's vehicle traveling northeast on Wurzbach Road around 2:08 a.m. Detectives discovered red paint on Mitchell's white Dodge Charger. 

San Antonio Police Department Homicide detectives believe that a person, or multiple people in the San Angelo, Texas area, may have information about Jessica's murder.
